Have you ever thought of supplementing your income or hosting trivia nights for a living?
I have been making an average of $270.00 US for each trivia night after expenses!
In 1998 I approached ten pubs in my area with a proposal to host a trivia night for them on Wednesday nights. Two pubs were interested and I chose the larger, more popular venue.
I offered them a proposal where-by the pub would supply most of the prizes, table numbers, a microphone, and a set-up area each week. I also negotiated a $185.00 US fee for each appearance.
In my proposal I outlined projections of the additional business I would bring to the pub and the benefits they would receive in food and drink sales and repeat business. As the prizes were stock that they needed to turn over (six-packs of drinks and a case of beer) and vouchers to encourage repeat business (a $30.00 food and drink voucher and an $80.00 food and drink voucher for the season runner-up) the pub were happy to supply them. I also charge a fee of $2.50 per person to play.
The pub agreed and we signed a contract for services. The trivia nights have gone from strength to strength and both the pub and I have benefited enormously.
Below are the actual profits and number of players as I built up the business:
